As part of my ongoing PhD research on climate change and the energy transition toward a low-carbon economy, recently I am working on a study to explore if and how carbon pricing instruments like Emissions Trading Schemes (ETS) and Voluntary Carbon Markets (VCM) may and can be adapted and implemented in Albania’s evolving climate policy landscape.

Although Albania has low GHG emissions, the country faces increasing pressure to integrate carbon pricing into its governance framework — and this study offers evidence-based recommendations to inform policy and investment decisions.
The case can contribute directly to my doctoral research by examining how scientific frameworks and practical policies intersect to enable meaningful climate action at the national level.
