Circular Economy in Practice: Case Study with Birra Korça

As part of the Erasmus+ 1FUTURE project, students from Luarasi University conducted a case study on circular economy practices in collaboration with Birra Korça.

The study was developed during the intensive course on Climate and the Circular Economy, where students examined sustainability challenges related to beverage production, including water consumption, packaging waste, and resource efficiency.

Through collaborative workshops and research activities, students explored how circular economy principles can help reduce environmental impact and improve sustainable production practices. The case study also encouraged students to think critically about how industries can transition toward more sustainable business models.

This initiative demonstrates how academic programs can support innovation and sustainability by connecting students with real industry challenges.

Honestly, I didn’t expect to learn this much from a short course. Working with Birra Korça made everything feel real, not just something from slides.|

For me, the most interesting part was understanding how much water is actually used in production. It really changed the way I think about everyday products.

I really enjoyed the group work because everyone had different ideas and perspectives. It made the discussions more dynamic and creative.

This experience made me realize that sustainability is not just a trend, but something every company needs to take seriously.

I liked that we worked on an actual case and not just theory. It pushed me to think more practically and come up with realistic solutions.

At first I thought circular economy was a complicated concept, but this project helped me understand it in a simple and practical way.

One thing I’ll take from this experience is how small changes in production can make a big difference for the environment.
