I am professor of Disaster Risk Management at the University of Tirana, Faculty of Economics.
I am teaching a group of 30 students, who I have divided in 6 groups composed of 5 students each.
I have assigned them to prepare a contingency plan for a private entity, focusing on the following aspects:
Basic Scenarios of Contingency plan development:
What are the main disasters affecting your activity?
What is the impact of a disaster event on people and infrastructure within your entity?
What is the Location of the private entity?
Number of affected people/departments within your entity?
Capacity / sensitivity of people (demographics, gender)?
Time and progress of events affecting your entity?
What resources are available within your entity?
Response strategy
A description of what you will need to do to respond to the scenario?
What are the specific objectives of the contingency plan?
What responses or interventions are needed to meet the objectives?
Implementation Plan
Emergency needs assessment, types, methods, who should be involved?
Who should be targeted and how?
Implementing partners and what are their roles?
Coordination structure
Information management
Are there any private entities who are interested in collaborating with our students to create contingency plans for their companies? We will be preparing 5 contingency plans in total, therefore we will need collaboration with 5 different private entities.
