As part of our ongoing collaboration within the 1FUTURE project, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Tirana (CCIT) is launching a thematic challenge designed to bring people together—businesses, students, and academic staff—to co-create fresh, practical ideas for managing textile waste. Our aim is simple: to encourage solutions that are easy to apply, genuinely useful, and scalable for companies that want to move toward greener practices.
In the Tirana–Durrës region, many companies in textile production, retail, and fashion imports are increasingly struggling with day-to-day issues such as piles of leftover fabric, unsold stock, limited recycling options, higher disposal costs, and new environmental requirements they’re expected to meet. On top of this, many businesses still lack clear information or guidance on how to adopt circular models that could help them reduce waste and improve sustainability.
Through this challenge, we invite interdisciplinary teams from our partner universities to dive into these real-life problems and explore meaningful, thoughtful solutions. Whether it’s designing better waste-sorting systems, identifying local recycling opportunities, developing upcycling ideas, or creating simple, cost-effective models that companies can test immediately—every contribution can make a difference.
Our goal is to inspire ideas that feel possible, not distant; ideas that can support both businesses and communities as Albania moves forward in its green transition. This is an opportunity to combine creativity, research, and industry insight to shape more sustainable practices across the textile sector.
