A lecture titled “Construction Waste Management and the Circular Economy” was held as part of our ongoing activities focused on sustainable development in the construction sector. The session provided an overview of Montenegro’s international commitments, EU regulatory requirements, and the national policy framework, including the Circular Transition Strategy 2030 and the 2024 Waste Management Law.
The lecture addressed current trends in construction and demolition waste (CDW), comparing EU and Montenegro data, highlighting challenges such as low recycling rates, insufficient infrastructure, and the need for stronger implementation of circular economy principles. Key concepts were discussed, including the waste management hierarchy, EU good practices, and opportunities to apply circular approaches within the Montenegrin construction sector.
